TourSec2020 - Postponed

Dear All,

We, at Middle East Global Advisors have been working closely with our key event partners to guarantee the finest delivery for the first edition of TourSec 2020 – Cyber Security Summit for Tourism, Hospitality & Healthcare. However, in light of the recent global Covid-19 outbreak, we have decided to postpone TourSec 2020.

The critical decision comes after much deliberation and consultation with the industry stakeholders, who have strongly endorsed our events over the years.

Whilst the UAE remains completely safe for travel, and has deployed the strictest medical and hygiene protocols, MEGA’s top priority is to safeguard the event’s participants, exhibitors, and potential visitors. We hope to see the situation progress in a direction that’s best for our industry and the people.

Under this consideration, TourSec 2020 is being postponed to a new date that will be announced in due course.  We sincerely appreciate your support and cooperation and look forward to seeing you again soon.

About TOURSEC 2020

The Global Tourism Industry is progressing to elevate to next level digital upsurge, by implementation of new technologies such as cloud, mobility, big data, analytics and the Internet of Things (IoT). Technology is a blessing and harrowing at times, the more organizations’ expose themselves digitally, the more vulnerable they are to emerging cyber risks. Tourism has evolved into a global phenomenon – one of the most important economic sectors, contributing directly to 5% of the world’s GDP. UNWTO estimates that worldwide international tourist arrivals (overnight visitors) increased 6% to 1.4 billion in 2018, clearly above the 3.7% growth registered in the global economy. Tourism industry is an attractive target for cybercriminals, who have turned their attention from retailers to tourism sector, fascinated by the valuable quantities of sensitive/personal customer data, including Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and Payment Card Information (PCI). The number of cyberattacks in recent years in the tourism and hospitality industry seems to indicate a changing pattern for hackers. The tourism industry is an overloaded and expansive market where a minute mistake can have unimaginable consequences, furthermore lack of security can destroy the industry’s reputation. An attack can ultimately lead to compromise of a brand name. Therefore, it is essential for the tourism sector to protect themselves and their customers against cyberattacks. IBM identified transportation services, including air, bus, rail and water, as the second most targeted sector globally in 2018, with 13% of all recorded cyberattacks. According to the “Hospitality Industry Risks: Data Privacy and Security” article, hospitality businesses often prove to be an easy target for criminals who are looking for high transaction volume, a large database of customer records and low-barriers to entry. TOURSEC 2020 will help mitigate Tourism sectors’ vulnerabilities and enhance their security preparedness against cyber risks and capitalize on significant market opportunities, where solution providers can offer end-to-end security solutions, explore state-of-the-art technology such as AI and forensics. The summit will provide up-to-date comprehensive practical solutions and powerful insights for managing a secure tourism business.
